Research position at ZAUM (Post-Doc/PhD) GRADUIERTEN KOLLEG!

12 positions for Natural Sciences PhD students (m/ f /d)

Up to 40% of the population in industrialized countries suffer from allergic diseases and about 5-8% from autoimmune diseases with a further increasing prevalence. A better understanding of the pathogenesis of these diseases is urgently needed for the development of new diagnostics and treatment strategies. The scientific goal of this Research Training Group (GK), reviewed and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), is to identify immune master switches (IMS) that orchestrate directional disease development.

We are looking for 12 motivated natural science PhD students for high quality project areas (for more information: www.xxx.de - will follow soon ), which are assigned to the two overarching thematic blocks allergy / allergic inflammation and autoimmune diseases. The special feature of the research training group is the cross-disciplinary character of the projects, which are based on state-of-the-art technologies (high-dimensional flow cytometry, viral gene transfer, live-cell imaging, pre-clinical disease models, single cell sequencing, cell culture with organ cultures and many more). In addition to the outstanding technical possibilities, candidates will be partnered with one researching medical collegue in research each (innovative tandem concept) and will thereby also gain insights into the problems and clinical presentations of allergies and autoimmune diseases. The aim is to uncover key mechanisms and switches in the development of these diseases.
